Duluth East Cross Country

We will be attending a middle school (6,7,8) at Hermantown high school on Sept 28th. Race times are 4pm for 6th grade(1 mile.) 4:15 for 7th (2 miles) and 4:30 for 8th (2 miles.). We will be providing a bus to the meet, but athletes must get there own ride home.

• Thursday – Moderate run with 3 or 4 x four minute tempo pickups during the run. with strength 3:45 at East High School

Saturday -optional practice 8:30 am ( varsity is encouraged to be there) at east for a long run (8-10) miles

• Location – Pincushion Trails, Cook County Road 53, 2+ miles up the Gunflint Trail (County 12) from Grand Marais.

Practice begins at Lester Park. All seventh, eighth graders and first year ninth graders should come at 8:00 AM. Bring appropriate running gear for the weather and a water bottle. Make sure that you check in with coaches when you arrive. We will finish by 9:30.

Experienced ninth graders and all sophomores, juniors, and seniors should report at 8:45 dressed to run with a water bottle. Check in with coaches. Practice will be finished by 10:30.

Anyone who is entering seventh grade, 10th grade or is new to the Duluth Public Schools will need a copy of a current physical. Physicals are good for three years if done before 7th and 10th grade. Online registration may be completed by any students who have been in the Duluth Public Schools. We will go over how to do online forms at practice and the Parent Meeting at 7:15 PM on Thursday, August 19th in the East gym.

Come early to practice if you have questions. I will also be available Thursday and Friday via email at dhwicker5009@gmail.com. I will be out of town Saturday and Sunday and unable to answer questions on the weekend.
