Please plan to arrive 2 hours prior to your race.  Also, plan to stay throughout all races to cheer, support, bond with teammates.  All student-athletes are expected to help clean up and help take down race course at the end of the meet.  We, along with Denfeld are the HOSTS.  Be courteous, helpful, respectful, and exhibit the high qualities and standards we have for you as representatives of the Duluth East Greyhound Nation, your FAMILY, and the team.

Be prepared for Swain; extra clothing, money for food at concessions, apparel available at this meet, uniform, and shoes!  Coaches will be limited to the camp area as we are assigned duties during the entire meet.  Make sure you get your race bib/chip from Manager Rebecca before walking the course! Parent must excuse you from school at 2:15 PM

Bus from Ordean East Middle School leaves at 2:30PM

Race at Hermantown High School at 4:00 PM 

Please have rides by 5:00PM for return trip home.  NO BUS BACK.

Milaca Mega Meet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Student- athletes will be racing in their grade divisions, unless on Varsity for this meet.  Please visit the Milaca Mega Meet website  (meet location is at Stone’s Throw Golf Course in Milaca)to get spectator important information.  Parking is strictly enforced, admission is charged.  Races begin at 10:00 AM and continue to start every 15 minutes.  Parents that plan to attend the meet, please stop at our team camp to help with running numbers   We must return all shoe chips, each one not returned is $10 charge to the person it was assigned to.  We will stop for food on return trip.  We estimate our return time to be 6:00PM.  Concessions and Apparel for purchase. Coach Peller is attending.

Good Evening!  Thanks for all the support and dedicated fans of Cross Country that “weathered” the storm on the course today.  It was a successful day with trophies on both teams!  Be sure and catch Phoebe Koski’s bit in the Duluth News Tribune.  Varsity and JV runners there is Saturday practice September 19 at 9:00AM at Bagley Pond on UMD campus off of St. Marie Street. 

Eveleth-Gilbert Meet– We will not be stopping for food after meet.  There are very limited options that can accommodate our size, let alone  all the other teams attending.  PLEASE PACK FOOD!!!!!! WATER/FLUIDS.

Friday AM practice at 6:30AM optional to be used in place of after school or missed practices.  After school practice 3:45PM as usual. 

Get ready for an exciting and busy Cross Country week!!  Tuesday, September 15 Middle School meet at Hermantown High School.  Meet begins at 4:00PM.  7th grade girls, 7th grade boys, 8th grade girls, 8th grade boys.  REMINDER BUS ONLY TO THE MEET NO RETURN TRANSPORTATION!!!!!!!

Thursday, September 17 at 4:00PM  ALL ATHLETES to Eveleth -Gilbert Golf Club.  Varsity and JV run together followed by middle school students.

Tuesday, September 29- MIDDLE SCHOOL MEET ONLY! At Hermantown High School but hosted by Lakeview Christian Academy. 4:00PM Again, bus to meet no return bus provided.

Middle Schoolers:  The Hermantown Meet on Tuesday, September 15 starts at 4:00PM.  Bus will pick you up at Ordean East School at 2:30.  PARENTS: MUST WRITE EXCUSING NOTE TO OFFICE TO PARTICIPATE, COACHES CAN  NOT EXCUSE STUDENTS AT MIDDLE SCHOOL.  Remember there will NOT be return transportation.

Looking Ahead to the Eveleth-Gilbert meet:  Thursday, September 17, students are excused at 1:30PM both middle school and high school.  Departure at 1:45PM.  Plan accordingly for missed school work, class time, and any other responsibilities you have.

 

This week:  Middle School students may ride bus #1 or #2 from Ordean East Middle School IF THEY HAVE A WRITTEN NOTE FROM PARENT STATING ALTERNATE DROP OFF AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.  Please take care of this asap if they want to use the bus to transport. TURN IN NOTE TO ORDEAN EAST OFFICE AND A PASS WILL BE ISSUED FOR YOUR SON/DAUGHTER TO RIDE.

No meet for middle school students this week.

Wednesday, September 9 we begin AM optional practices at 6:30 AM.  Meet in lobby at High School.  Bring breakfast and shower supplies for after workout.  These practices are to allow the afternoon for church/family activities.  It can also serve as a makeup for a different day IF……you attend both Am and PM practice on Wednesdays.

Thursday, September 10:  This week Thursday 6:30 AM practice due to the meet on Friday.  See above details as explained for Wednesdays’ options.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11—–Cambridge Isanti MEET  JV and Varsity ONLY.  Student-athletes will be excused at 12:30 PM from classes and depart at 12:45.  LET YOUR TEACHERS KNOW IN ADVANCE of your ABSENCE.  Be prepared to turn in assignments prior to leaving for meet.  Meet is held at Middle School in Cambridge-Isanti. 

TUESDAY, September 15–Middle School MEET at Hermantown!!!!!!  A bus will bring students to the meet NO RETURN BUS please make arrangements to pick up or carpool kids.  This race is designated a grade 7-8 race, with possible 9th graders per coaches decision.

Location – Pincushion Trails, Cook County Road 53, 2+ miles up the Gunflint Trail (County 12) from Grand Marais.

Student athletes- buses to Grand Marais leave from East High School at 12:00 noon.  We are pre-ordering food at Sven and Ole’s if you are interested fill out order form at practice and bring money to the meet.  Races begin at 3:00PM.  The Cook team has moved the meet back to accommodate a later start for our team due to Freshman and Hound Pack day. If you are not participating in the meet let coaches know Tuesday at practice.  All athletes are assumed competing unless otherwise stated.  Meets are not optional, as they are an integral part of the training season. 

Other options for meals  include in town establishments such as Dairy queen, a taco/pizza restaurant. 

IF YOU ARE NOT RIDING BUS HOME:  Must complete and turn in to coaches by Wednesday, Sept. 2.  We are taking yellow school buses-no wifi, bathroom, or DVD equipment.  Estimated return to East at 9:30PM.  Have parents ready upon our return.
